Soundtrends is one of the few companies in the IOS audio app game who’s main focus is designing apps for DJs and electronic music with an emphasis on live performance. Loops are at the heart of several amazing apps made by Soundtrends, including but not limited to Studio HD and Looptastic. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing around with both of these apps and their “ableton inspired” work flow. I’m still not sold that touch screens are the holy grail for “controllerists”, but the market is still so young and I believe developers will continue to find better ways to leverage the screen real estate on digital tablets. Meta DJ is Soundtrends latest release and appears to be a culmination of features from previous apps but also includes new “Traktor like” DJ functions such as cue points.
